Online education is all about in the public mind with many higher education made during the current tough economic times. The resulting increase in profit online university, serving students, open source education movement. This movement, led by MIT OpenCourseWare and Khan Academy aims to revolutionize education by offering free content to anyone with an Internet connection. Bill Gates said in an interview that he believes that within five years the best education will come from the web. Coming from a man who made billions by investing in innovation, such predictions will bring a huge amount of weight. />
There is a great demand for online educational materials, not just those enrolled in online courses, but for anyone trying to learn. The upcoming generation of college freshman think hard to remember a time before Google and YouTube. Therefore, it is not surprising that the first reaction of many young students when faced with a difficult problem to "Google". Interestingly enough, there are plenty of online educational materials, probably the best approach. A quick Google search returns account for a lot more than what one might find in a traditional library. Entire textbooks, video lessons, practice problems with solutions, internet forum linked to thousands of useful specialists, computer programs, and more content is growing daily trip to the library to do stupid unless you plan on using library computers to access the Internet. />
So, which is open source education movement that lead us? Despite the enthusiasm of many, I do not expect damage over prices higher education system (bubble?) Any time soon.
Although, it is interesting to study the case will continue to submit the list of tracking some of the videos on YouTube as an educational credentials. Open source movement education will have an effect, however, the industry makes more educational materials. There is a whole section of "Learn Calculus Fast!" books on education style that can disappear from the shelf of your local bookstore (if a local bookstore, but not disappear). How to compete with interactive online materials, video lessons and panels for this item? Honestly, I do not see how they can. /> There is a great demand for online educational materials, not just those enrolled in online courses, but for anyone trying to learn. More interesting than the business impact of open source educational psychology movement behind it. What is driving people to create their own YouTube videos to solve problems in calculus? Or spend your nights in a dedicated forum for organic chemistry, helps the students have difficulty understanding the concept? Economists and Psychologists who are together to see what motivates people to contribute to open source projects and found three main instigators. Challenges, wisdom, and making a contribution to the driving force behind all open source projects. The three elements are clearly indicated in the case of open source education movement, and can be added to the "joy of teaching" as an additional motivator. It is for this reason that I agree with Mr. Gates, not only the best education is readily available on the web, but it is free.
